Tiny Totos is a Kenyan registered social enterprise that is building a network of standard-setting slum-based daycares providing safe, affordable and stimulating services at prices lower-income clients can afford. With training and investment we upgrade informal daycares run by female entrepreneurs in the slums of Nairobi. Through our growing distribution network of partners, Tiny Totos offers wellbeing products and courses to daycare clients that improve livelihoods and generate revenue to meet Tiny Totos’ operating costs at scale.
300,000+ children under 4 suffer emotional, physical and developmental neglect from unregulated, substandard daycares
There are an estimated 5,000 unregulated, private, primarily homebased daycares in the slums representing 80% of all institutions providing any type of childcare support
With no state or private preschool care available informal, home-based daycares are often the only option available to working mothers in slums.
